Whinny’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is a must have for your equine friend. It contains the microorganisms (bacteria) called called the “mother.” It offers some amazing health benefits for your horse or pony and has been used and revered since ancient times. This “mother” is what gives the Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) it’s cloudy appearance. Clear ACV’s have been distilled and the vital mother has been removed, essentially all the good stuff has gone.
This is why Whinny’s Organic ACV is so incredible with the mother left in tact it has the ability to destroy many germs and pathogens on contact.
The benefits of using Whinny’s Organic ACV are many so I’ll list just a few:
- Helps acidify the stomach for optimum digestion. Stomach acid is the horse’s first line of defence against bacteria, parasite eggs and food or water-borne diseases
- As the AVC increases the intestinal acidity in horses it can help prevent intestinal stones called enteroliths
- The ‘mother’ provides immune boosting properties - promotes the growth of healthy microflora, ACV is prebiotic, which feeds probiotics, the healthy microflora in your horse's inner ecosystem
- When fed daily ACV works to remove toxins, restore pH balance and increase crucial mineral absorption, all of which improves joint health
- AVC can benefit horses with arthritis, it can help control arthritis pain and stiffness, it helps break down early calcification in joints
- A healthy non-toxic horse is not attractive to flies and since ACV helps with protein digestion there will be less undigested protein in the manure to attract flies
- As a natural insect control, ACV causes thiamine (vitamin B1) to be excreted through the skin, repelling flies and mosquitoes. Optimum levels of B vitamins (particularly B1) in the body seem to discourage bugs. For this to work, it’s important to make sure your horse has a diet containing B vitamins
- Thrush and other hoof problems can be addressed with soaks or poultices of natural ACV. A little undiluted ACV can be sprayed or dripped right into the frog, or 1/8 cup of vinegar can be added to 2 litres of water and used as a soak or poultice for hoof fungus and abscesses
- Mild skin conditions: ringworm (a type of fungi, not worms) can be treated by rubbing ACV in 3 times a day for several consecutive days. Less harsh than using a copper product
- A final rinse with ACV-laced water after bathing will cut right through leftover soap leaving your horse super shiny. Great on the mane and tail too
- Add some ACV to the rinse water when washing stable bandages and horse blankets. The soap residue will be gone, along with the odour
- ACV has the ability to destroy many germs and pathogens on contact
As a nutritional supplement in feed and/or water, Whinny’s Organic ACV shines. For general use, ¼ cup daily on feed diluted with an equal amount of water.
